Our Established Program
The University of Toronto's co-operative education programs are offered exclusively at Scarborough. We have provided employers with talented, hardworking students since 1975. Our program is continually enhanced to stay on the cutting edge. This provides a proven formula for success through an advanced curriculum including:
Management Principles, Management Consulting, International Business Management, Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Operations Management, Public Management, Statistics, Economics, Investments, Computer Management, Management Information Systems, E-Commerce, Marketing Principles, Market Research, Communications, Human Resource Management, and Organizational Behaviour.
Access High Quality Talent
At the University of Toronto, our reputation for excellence is well known by both students and employers. Prior to entering our competitive programs, students must meet high academic standards and demonstrate eagerness and commitment to succeed in their chosen field. To be eligible to work for your organization, students must also maintain these standards of excellence by achieving an overall average which places them among the top students at the university. Students must also complete a set of required courses that qualifies them to work effectively in their role at your organization.

Students starting a work term will be in their second, third or fourth year in the program and are available to work full-time, approximately 37.5 hours per week for 4 or 8 months. They must complete 3 work terms as part of their program of study.
Individual students' schedules typically alternate with periods of work and study, (e.g. 4 months of work, 4 months of study,4 months of work, etc), but this schedule can usually be adjusted to accomodate return offers.
Target Future Hires Cost Effectively
How can my corporation save income tax by hiring co-op students?
If your corporation hires post-secondary co-op students you may be eligible for Ontario’s Co-operative Education Tax Credit (CETC).
The CETC is a refundable tax credit for employers equal to 10 per cent* (15 per cent* for businesses with payrolls under $400,000) of the salaries and wages paid to eligible post-secondary students in a qualifying co-op work placement of at least 10 consecutive weeks. A maximum tax credit of $1,000* is available per student per qualifying work placement.
*The 2009 Budget proposes, effective for eligible expenditures incurred after March 26, 2009, to increase the CETC rate from 10 per cent to 25 per cent and, for small businesses, from 15 per cent to 30 per cent. The maximum tax credit available to employers per qualifying work placement would also increase from $1,000 to $3,000.
The calculator provides an estimate of the additional savings available to a corporation from the proposed 2009 Budget enhancement to the CETC, assuming the benefit is fully utilized.
